Peperpot: a plantation that became forest again
Peperpot Nature Park is a former coffee and cacao plantation eight kilometres outside Paramaribo, given back to the forest, and one of the most reliable places in Suriname to see three-toed sloths, best between 07:00 and 10:00.

The plantation produced coffee and later cacao well into the twentieth century. When the business ended the land was not redeveloped but left to the forest, with the old plantation tracks still running straight through it.
That makes the walking easy: broad, level paths with no climbing, cacao trees and cecropias on both sides. It is in those cecropias that the three-toed sloths sit.
You also see howler monkeys, toucans, several woodpecker species and with luck a giant anteater. Go early, between 07:00 and 10:00 is by far the most active window.
