A small tour company in Paramaribo
Switi Tours is an independent tour company in Paramaribo organising half-day and full-day tours in Dutch, English and Sranan Tongo, in groups of up to eight, sold only directly and never through booking platforms.
"Switi" means sweet in Sranan Tongo. It is the word you hear here when something is good, food, music, a day. That is roughly the ambition.
Switi Tours organises tours and private experiences in Paramaribo and further afield in Suriname. We are your point of contact from the first question to the day itself: the proposal, the arrangements and whatever needs sorting along the way all run through us. You go out with trusted local guides who know where they are taking you. There is no call centre in between and no booking platform.
Why that matters to you: your message gets a personal reply, usually within a few hours on WhatsApp and always within 24 hours, and you have one point of contact rather than a chain of intermediaries. When you ask whether a tour suits your 78-year-old mother or your 9-year-old, you get an honest answer rather than a sales pitch, which is why every tour page also states plainly who it is not for.
And because there is no 20–30% platform commission in between, the price you see is one fixed amount per person, with nothing added along the way. Who organises the tours, and who guides them?
Switi Tours organises every tour and is your point of contact from the first question to the day itself. You go out with local guides who know the city and the places they show you, in Dutch, English or Sranan Tongo. Your question gets a personal reply from us within 24 hours.
Why are groups capped at eight?
Because above 8 people you no longer fit around one table in a warung and the guide can no longer talk to everyone. It becomes a guided tour instead of a conversation. Eight is the maximum; the minimum varies by tour, usually three or four, two on some tours.
Do you work with booking platforms?
No, deliberately. Platforms charge 20–30% commission which ends up in your price. We sell only directly, through this site, email and WhatsApp.
