- We have verified no Paramaribo room rate. The last published place-of-stay data, Caribbean Tourism Organization for 2009, gives 11 percent in hotels against 49 percent with friends or family. Old and indicative, but it shows why one default figure would be wrong here.

Is Suriname expensive?
Food and tours are cheap, flights and hotels are not. A warung meal costs SRD 60 to 180, roughly €1.39 to €4.20 at the July 2026 rate (SRD 42.81 to 43.22 to the euro, Central Bank of Suriname). A day tour with us is €35 to €150 per person and a private airport transfer €50 to €60.
How much cash should you bring to Suriname?
Cash is the norm outside hotels and supermarkets. For street and warung eating, budget SRD 130 to 400 per person per day, two meals and a snack. Change money at a cambio in the centre at SRD 42.81 to 43.22 to the euro (CBvS, July 2026 average). Withdraw at the blue Republic Bank ATMs, limit SRD 20,000 a day, and since 1 August 2026 a withdrawal costs SRD 17.60.
What does the airport transfer to Paramaribo cost?
A private car for 1 to 3 people costs €50 to €60 one way with local operators, a minibus for 6 to 7 people around €80, and a shared bus runs from $18 per person return. Johan Adolf Pengel lies 45 kilometres south of Paramaribo, about an hour by road. Prices checked in August 2026.
Why is there no hotel price in this calculator?
Because we have not verified a single Paramaribo room rate ourselves, and an unverified number does not belong on this site. You enter your own figure per night. It is also not a cost for everyone: in the last published place-of-stay data, from the Caribbean Tourism Organization for 2009, 11 percent of arrivals stayed in a hotel and 49 percent stayed with friends or family.
