Where these figures come from

Platform prices are Viator listings per person, checked on 2026-08-18. "Local direct" figures are other Paramaribo operators' own published prices, principally Jenny Tours' public price list. All amounts are per person.

We show the local direct prices even where they sit close to or below ours. That is deliberate: the real difference between us and another Surinamese operator is not ten euros, it is the group size, the language you are guided in and what the tour is actually about. If you are shopping purely on price, a colleague may suit you better, and we would rather say so here than afterwards.

What is in the price

  • Every entry fee listed on the tour page
  • Transport during the tour
  • The meals and tastings named
  • Water along the way
  • The guide, in Dutch, English or Sranan Tongo

What is not

  • Alcohol
  • Tips, customary but never expected
  • Whatever you buy at the market yourself
  • Transport to and from your hotel unless the tour says otherwise

Paying

You reserve with a 20% deposit and pay the balance in cash on the day, in Surinamese dollars, euros or US dollars. Up to 48 hours before departure you can cancel free and the deposit is refunded in full.

Frequently asked questions

What does a tour in Paramaribo cost?

A three-hour walking tour costs €35 per person with us and a four-hour food tour €45. Day trips run from €60 (Colakreek, eight hours) to €95 (Brownsberg and the Brokopondo reservoir, eleven hours). On Viator a Paramaribo City Tour starts at $163, a Commewijne plantation tour costs $169 to $295 and a Brownsberg day trip $233.

Why is booking through a platform more expensive?

Booking platforms typically charge the operator 20–30% commission, which the operator builds into the price, and the platform then often marks the visible price up again. Viator lists roughly 26 experiences for the whole of Suriname; in a market that thin there is little price pressure.

Are local operators in Suriname always cheaper?

Compared with the platforms, yes, compared with each other, not necessarily. Jenny Tours in Paramaribo publishes a full price list with Brownsberg at €95 and Commewijne with dolphins at €70, which sits close to ours. The difference with us is group size, language and what the tour is actually about, not a few euros.

Are there hidden costs on your tours?

No. Every tour page lists what is included and what is not. Entries, transport and any meals named are in the price; alcohol, tips and anything you buy yourself are not. You pay a 20% deposit to reserve and the balance in cash on the day.

What currency do you pay in?

Prices are quoted in euros because most of our guests come from the Netherlands. On the day you pay cash in Surinamese dollars, euros or US dollars, whichever suits you.
