Frequently asked questions
What does a day tour in Suriname cost?
Our day tours run from €40 (three-hour walking tour) to €125 (Brownsberg and the reservoir, eleven hours). The food tour is €55 and Commewijne €95. All prices are per person and include what the tour page lists.
How far in advance should you book?
For city tours a few days is usually enough. For day trips to Brownsberg or Commewijne we advise a week. In July, August, the week around 25 November and over Christmas: allow four to six weeks.
Do tours run with only two people?
For the walking tour and the roots days, yes: two is the minimum there. The food tours and the cooking class need three and the day trips four, because otherwise the guide and transport do not cover; on Sunday morning two can go for €70 per person. Above eight a second guide joins or we schedule a second day.
What happens if it rains?
The tour runs. Showers in Suriname rarely last more than an hour and we reorder the stops. Only extreme weather or an impassable road to Brownsberg causes a reschedule, and that costs you nothing.
Can you cancel for free?
Yes, up to 48 hours before departure your deposit is refunded in full. After that the deposit is forfeited, because by then the shopping and reservations have been made.
