The city’s best rainy destination is the Surinaams Museum at Fort Zeelandia: Tuesday to Friday 9:00 to 14:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 14:00, with a guided tour at 10:30 on Sundays. Mind the early closing time; this is a morning plan, not an afternoon one.
The Surinaamsch Rumhuis on Cornelis Jongbawstraat pairs a museum with a tasting of aged Borgoe rums; tours reportedly run on Tuesdays at about €15 per person, but call ahead, because times and price are not officially published. The Neveh Shalom synagogue on Keizerstraat can be visited inside on weekdays from roughly 10:00 to 16:00.
Beyond that: TBL Cinemas next to Hermitage Mall shows current releases on five screens, Hermitage Mall and Maretraite Mall are fully covered, and with children the indoor playground Alegria at Keizerstraat 49 (daily 9:00-22:00, Sundays from 15:00) is what Surinamese parents themselves use.
